Here at the store we just call him Banana Boss, but his real name is Banao Kawasuberi. He’s a “totally sweet nice guy,” as explained on his website. Since it’s in Japanese, though, I’ll summarize what they say about him here:
Elite banana, Banao is an international smooth guy and something of a celebrity. He just got back from Philippines with smooth skin and sweet gentle smell. With a slender, athletic body and perfectly white smile, everyone has a crush on him. His cat, Yuuko, answers only to Banao and follows him everywhere he goes, on business trips and other travels. Be dazzled by the exciting world of Banao!
Dude also knows how to really enjoy a good glass of brandy, as demonstrated below. Actually, a lot of his mascot merchandise depicts him relaxing with a brandy snifter or wine glass at his side. I guess when you work for a company called Nangoku Tropical, you can floss like that.
He’s a master of cold hard chilling.
We were thinking of making Banao our unofficial mascot, being that he’s also yellow (like the inside of Omoi), and he embodies a suave quality we all wish we had… but I dunno. I feel like we’re not good enough for him. He’s too cool, too smooth. His merchandise says “elite” all over it! We have memo pads where every page is a friend or co-worker’s testament to how awesome Banao is. Here’s one from Banao’s best friend, .

Now, I feel a little poorly about posting this picture. Deep in my heart, I know Banao would never get trashed on cheap beer and cigarettes, but maybe this is what he used to be like before his career took off, before he started doing yoga and working for a company that flies him around the world.
